Favorite Music: DHOOM!

I am totally on a Bollywood kick right now. I am just inhaling the films as quick as I can on Netflix, I find them delightful—even the ones that make me cry/sob through the last half hour (I'm looking at you, Kites and Mujhse Dosti Karoge!) and the most embarrassing part is how many soundtracks I've purchased, because I can't get enough of the music too. Seriously, is there any greater joy than watching someone bust out into song and dance at just the wrong moment? And having everyone surrounding join in? This is how life should be.

Dhoom:2 is worth watching, people, every second of it, and if you do you'll see the following two songs in all their glory. These are the songs I'm totally obsessed with this week—in fact every Lee child with an iPod is listening to these (and the others from the Dhoom soundtrack) on repeat, we just can't get enough.

I genuinely love this song, and the choreography is more traditional. Can't get it out of my head.

And the title song from the movie. Starring maybe the most beautiful leading man ever? Who can really dance. But it's more hip hop than traditional.

Such delight and wonder! So cheesy, in the best way. Plot isn't very tight though, it's all about the pretty.
(Then, after Dhoom:2 if you want tight plot, beautiful songs, and a story that makes you a little teary, I 125% recommend Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, but you actually have to watch Dhoom:2 first to get some of the jokes in it!)

I remember, wistfully, when teen films were appropriate for teen viewing (unlike, in my opinion, American Pie and other very R-rated stuff). Some Kind of Wonderful was my favorite movie *ever* for a long, long time, and probably four out of the top five favorite movie slots were John Hughes films*. He was the voice of my generation; his films struck a chord with everyone I knew. And the soundtracks rocked—he had fantastic taste in music. Ah, John. John, John, John. I feel like an important part of my youth is gone, never to return.

Twilight Movie

Dragged B to see the Twilight movie again Saturday night. We saw it opening night together, and then I took Emma and Christian the next day to see it. So it was his second time, my third.

I really like it. The screenplay has made the plot cohesive, plus the plot doesn't just appear suddenly 2/3 of the way into the movie. Bella isn't nearly so whiny. Most of the changes were for the better, IMO. Favorite change: the Bella-meets-the-Cullens scene. Oh my gosh it's charming and I wish it had been that way in the book! *hearts Esme* The soundtrack rocks. And Charlie is pitch-perfect throughout. My only complaint is there aren't enough Cullens in the movie. Emmett! Emmett! Emmett!

I think I like the movie better than the book.

And that's really saying something.

I think I've never seen a full-price, first-run movie three times before. The only other possibility, if I have, was Rattle and Hum.
